Winter Drumline

Waukee Indoor aka winter drumline is a performance art show that takes place in a gymnasium or an indoor arena. This ensemble marries elements of music, marching, and theater. Waukee Indoor is a combined activity that includes students currently in grades 9-12 at both Waukee and Northwest High Schools.

Waukee Indoor

This is an indoor marching activity (similar to marching band), performed on a large vinyl floor on a basketball court-sized surface, utilizing traditional marching percussion instruments. While it is a percussion activity, many non-percussionists choose to learn specific percussion instruments in order to participate. And it's a really fun activity that gives students an opportunity to "march" during the winter months. The drumline is under the direction of Northwest percussion director Tenea Fabray -  tfabray@waukeeschools.org, with assistance from the percussion staffs of both Northwest and Waukee. The Iowa Indoor Marching Arts (IIMA) is the organizing body for competitions. You can find addtional information on their website here.
